Niesen Ticket To Murder And St. Petersburg Times 2010-01-03 14:42:36 | Source During the investigation of the death of Martin Lee Anderson (left) at a Bay County boot camp in January, allegations of misconduct were raised about former Pinellas County medical examiner Dr. Charles Siebert (right) who allegedly falsified the original autopsy report in the death of the teen while acting as the Bay County medical examiner. Siebert ruled that the 14-year-old boy's death was due to a blood disorder. A second autopsy found that Anderson had died from suffocation due to ammonia capsules shoved up his nose by the guards and a nurse, eight of whom have now been arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter. http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/112806EightCharged.html In May, another family came forward and accused Siebert of covering up an alleged beating in the death of Michael Niesen in Clearwater in 1977. John Niesen, brother of Michael Niesen who died at age 18 following an automobile accident in Clearwater, Pinellas County, filed a complaint with the state charging that Siebert covered up his brother's death by ruling that he had suffered injuries in a car accident rather than a beating by police officers which Niesen says occurred to avenge the death of Clearwater police officer Ronald Mahoney who also died that night. The Florida news media had refused to print articles surrounding his allegations and after the St. Petersburg Times published an article written by the Associated Press on May 26, Niesen was angry that he had been misquoted. On June 24, The St. Petersburg Times published a correction. About the same time, Niesen contacted The North Country Gazette and asked the publication to undertake an investigative report about the incidents surrounding his brother's death. Over a period of several weeks, NCG, at its own cost, conducted public records requests and undertook extensive taped interviews and on July 29, exclusively published the first part of what was to be a several part-series about the case. http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/072906NiesenMurder1.html Thereafter, due to actions of John Niesen who chose not to acknowledge the extensive work of NCG, it was opted not to publish the other part of the series. On Nov. 21, when reviewing statistical information about visitors to the NCG site, it was learned that the St. Petersburg Times had had an inordinate interest in the Niesen exclusive and for over half an hour, The Times was on the NCG site reading information pertaining to the Niesen case, information which was available exclusively at NCG. A sampling of the logs follows: A visitor from tpc4.sptimes.com (63.108.45.252) arrived from www.northcountrygazette.org/archivesJuly2006.html, and visited www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/071606TicketToMurder.html at 10:45:10 AM on Tuesday, November 21, 2006. A visitor from tpc4.sptimes.com (63.108.45.252) arrived from www.google.com john niesen 1-10, and visited www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/072906NiesenMurder1.html at 10:26:43 AM on Tuesday, November 21, 2006. NCG has now opted to publish the remaining information obtained about the Niesen case and it will appear here exclusively in the coming days. It was 29 years ago in July that 18-year-old Michael Niesen and Clearwater Police officer Ronald Mahoney died in Pinellas County following an automobile accident. Did Michael Niesen die as the initial autopsy report says of severe head injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident or as the result of a beating by officers of the Clearwater Police Department in retaliation for the death of their fellow officer as a third autopsy report completed after an exhumation suggests, saying that "Niesen received his head injuries some time after the motor vehicle accident and while in the custody of local authorities"? Accident Scene Photo Why does the initial autopsy report attribute Niesen's head injuries to surgery when Niesen never underwent surgery and a third medical examiner says that the injuries are consistent with having been inflicted with almost any blunt object including a nightstick or flashlight? Michael Niesen - Autopsy Photo (WARNING! Graphic!) Why do the paramedics at the scene, eyewitnesses and police officers say that Michael Niesen was not ejected from the truck, was alert and talking at the scene and when they first saw him and did not have any serious visible wounds but yet the official police report says he was unconscious and never regained consciousness? Did the Sixth Circuit State Attorney's office of Bernie McCabe (left) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement under former commissioner Guy Tunnell (right) cover up the murder of the teenager and intentionally falsify reports along with the Clearwater Police Department? Why did former FDLE director Guy Tunnell and two other high ranking FDLE supervisors allegedly admit to and investigator of the Office of Inspector General that Niesen had been murdered but that there would be no prosecution? Can paramedics and eyewitnesses present at the fatal scene all be mistaken at what they saw the night of the accident as McCabe's office says? Did former Pinellas County medical examiner Charles Siebert, now at the center of controversy in the Bay County boot camp death of 14-year-old Martin Lee Anderson, have a role in the death of Michael Niesen, reviewing the case for McCabe and the State Attorney's office in 2001? Is Gov. Jeb Bush and his office involved in the cover up and why did Bush's associate general counsel Victoria Brennan tell John Niesen in mid-July to "go piss up a rope", that his request for a reopening of his brother's case "ain't gonna happen"? Is there a pattern of cover-ups in Pinellas County involving the state attorney's office of Bernie McCabe, the Pinellas County Medical Examiner's office and the FDLE which also administers the Florida Medical Examiner Commission including in the case of Terri Schindler Schiavo? For 29 years, Michael's brother, John and his mother Mary Riley have sought the truth about the death of their brother and son. They have been stonewalled, threatened, lied to, called delusional and conspiracy nuts. But John, a retired private investigator, has doggedly sought justice for his brother and has found eyewitnesses to the accident who dispute under sworn statement the official police report as well as a police officers and paramedics who also refute the official findings. They say the police and prosecutors engaged in a cover up of the real cause of Michael's death. While the state attorney's office claims in their reports of 1991, 1995 and 2001 that they interviewed these witnesses and paramedics, they say that no one from any law enforcement agency ever interviewed them, indicating that McCabe's office has allegedly falsified reports in an attempt to cover up a murder. The North Country Gazette will continue its in-depth review of the Niesen case "Ticket To Murder", chronicling John Niesen's search for the truth about his brother's death and what has now resulted the Chief Sid Klein of the Clearwater Police Department asking federal prosecutors to review the case and the allegations of police misconduct. A former assistant U.S. Attorney who is representingt the Niesen family, says its not too late for prosecutions.
